Annual General Meetings

Colorful raised hands encouraging participation in an annual general meeting.

Annual General Meetings

Each year Holly Rise holds an Annual General Meeting in line with its Constitution, M.M.A., and the rules governing a Friendly Society.  All resident shareholders are invited to attend with due notification being given at least 21 days in advance.

last AGM - Held on 8th JULY 2026

Marguerite Llewellyn, opened the meeting at 7:05pm.  Attendees were welcomed.  They included Birmingham City Councillors, Senior Management from the Council's Asset Management Team, Fortum Solutions Ltd, members of the current committee and shareholder tenants from Claverdon and Southam Houses.

Five committee members were re-elected, and two new committee members were elected via a ballot of the tenants present.

The Chair's statement highlighted key changes that had taken place over the past year and some of the challenges the TMO could face going forward.  These included changes in Social Housing legislation, the introduction of Phase 2 of Awaab's Law, the extension of the Freedom of Information Act to include TMO's and the start of the £30,000,000+ retrofit programme of  blocks on Hollybank Road.  This would include new roofs, new curtaining, new AAA rated double glazing, new kitchens, new bathrooms, etc.

All tenants were reminded the 5 year Continuation Ballot would be taken in 2027 and were invited to get involved in anyway they could to ensure the TMO would be around to support them in the future.  This is did not necessarily mean joining the committee as there were many opportunities to support the community which did not require that level of commitment.

The accounts for the year ending 31st March 2026 were presented by the Treasurer, Richard Avery, and, following clarification and explanation, were accepted by those present.

The majority of attendees voted to donate the charity funds raised over the previous year to Acorns Children's Hospice.  A number of other prize draws were made before the meeting was closed at 20;30 hrs.
